What is
Pathetics Nation?
Pathetics Nation is an Oakland A's blog. Here, there's none of that "In Billy We Trust" bullshit. And we won't try to sell you any T-shirts, either. (We don't need to--we have real jobs.) We love the A's, but we tell it like it is.

Fun Fact
Sad but true: The T-shirt salesman who runs Athletics Nation also runs fan websites for the Los Angeles Angels, the Texas Rangers, the Seattle Mariners, and even the San Francisco Giants--all teams that REAL A's fans hate with a passion. .

Orioles 8, AAA's 3

Addicted to .500

Every time Oakland seems poised to move a few games over .500, the team comes crashing back down. Which means updating this site is not a whole lot of fun anymore.

We love it when the A's play well, but we also have a lot of fun when the AAA's are pathetic. When they simply hover around the .500 mark like a bunch of junkies, it's boring.

As boring as today's 8-3 loss to the Baltimore Bore-ioles. As boring as Eric Chavez's batting average. As boring as Nick Swisher's new haircut. As boring as Jason Kendall's entire American League career. As boring as Billy Beane's Moneyballs.

Boring with a capital B.

A's 15, Giants whatever

126 Million

Reasons to $mile

#1 -- Barry Zito is no longer on the A's.

#2 -- Barry Zito is no longer on the A's.

#3 -- Barry Zito is no longer on the A's.

#4 through #125,999,999 -- Barry Zito is no longer on the A's.

#126,000,000 -- All of the above.

San Francisco's investment continues to pay off -- for their opponents. A's crush Zito, Giants. And Pathetics Nation deserves all the credit.

Kansas Shitty AAA's

Oakland manages just 1 run against the lowly Royals. Duchscherer does his best Kiko Calero impression. The outcome? Beaned Again!

Who's Your Mommy?

Jack Cust is greeted at home plate by someone who looks suspiciously like his mom after hitting a 2-out, 9th-inning, game-winning home run. And he does it without a special pink bat. Happy Mothers Day!

No Hits, No Runs

1 Big Error

Billy Beane's $66 Million Mistake has another 0-for-4 outing. Plus, he throws the ball away to give the Indians the go-ahead run. Now you know why we call him "Senor Choke."

Stinko de Mayo

Senor Choke goes 0 for 5 and narrowly misses another Golden Sombrero as the AAA's lose again. Can someone please tell this $66 million turd to pull his pant legs up and start performing like a real baseball player?

Swisher strokes a dong, A's find themselves back at .500. Meanwhile, Chavez overachieves, goes 1 for 5.

Hugs And Kisses

A's can't seem to win with Geren, so they do it without him. A's rally after skipper is tossed. Chavez goes 0 for 5.
