What is
Pathetics Nation?
Pathetics Nation is an Oakland A's blog. Here, there's none of that "In Billy We Trust" bullshit. And we won't try to sell you any T-shirts, either. (We don't need to--we have real jobs.) We love the A's, but we tell it like it is.

Which will be lower tonight: The number of runs Oakland puts onto the scoreboard, or the number of fans it puts into the seats?

Are we forever stuck with Beane?

By The Anti-Blez on Saturday, May 28, 2005

As most Oakland fan's know, when the team was sold to Lew Wolff, the new owner made Billy Beane a limited partner in the franchise.

With Beane ensconced not only in the GM position through 2012 but also the owner's suite, is there any hope the Oakland front office may someday realize that Moneyball doesn't really work unless you have a "Big Three" to back you up?

How far must the team sink before Beane begins to reconsider his approach and let small-ball advocates like Ron Washington take charge?

Banned by Blez

By The Anti-Blez on Thursday, May 26, 2005

Breaking news!

(No, Pathetics Nation didn't score an interview in which Billy Beane
has agreed to answer softball questions from wannabe writers.)

The news is that Tokyoak, founder of PN, has been banned from posting
at our sister site, Athletics Nation, by blogmaster Blez. In fact,
Blez exercised the "nuclear option," erasing all of Tokyoak's posts
on AN from this season and last.

Tokyoak believes Blez feels threatened by the growing number of
intelligent A's fans who refuse to contribute to the Jobless
Journalist Fund by purchasing "In Billy We Trust" T-shirts. But
that's simply one employed man's opinion.

Whatever the reason, Tokyoak has just one response: "There is no
crying in baseball, Blez."

Danny "Hard Luck" Haren versus Hideo "The Hurricane" Nomo.

Who gives a damn what the starting lineups look like. Both teams suck.

Top of the 6th, AAA's down 13-2, and Eric Chavez (with his $60 million contract) is a no-show (again).
