Open Thread: Game 101 - Cleveland vs. A's
By The Anti-Blez on Wednesday, July 27, 2005
Last night's game was nothing less than May-serable.
Have we witnessed the Second Coming of the Pathetics?
Heaven forbid...
Let's Go A's!

Nail-biter in the ninth. Intentional BB to Swisher so the Injuns can face Crosby instead?
Fingers crossed...
Chokey better come through, or he's dog shit for the rest of the season.
Chokey SUCKS. That was the very situation where Giambi and Tejada came through for the A's over and over again.
BEANED AGAIN BY THE BEANO'S LOVE FOR CHOKEY!
You know what. This is just what the T-shirt salesman and his nation of Asslickers deserve. You put your "trust" in Beano and Chokey, and look what it gets you!
Oobergoober, you, like the rest of the Asslickers fail to understand what Chokey just did to the A's.
Not only did he fail to come through (again) in a clutch situation, but in so failing, he forced Street to pitch another inning. That's another inning that he WON'T be able to pitch later this season IF the A's are still in playoff contention.
You and your ilk just count wins and losses. Baseball fans who actually THINK about the game see the BIGGER picture.
Marco Retardo gets credit for collecting the game-winning hit after going 0-4 in his first four at-bats.
But Chokey gets absolutely NOTHING for choking in the clutch in the 9th and forcing Street to have to pitch an additional inning.
If the A's are in contention in September and Street's arm is spaghetti, I will blame Chokey.
Oobergoober...
A sore arm doesn't recover in just one day. By suggesting otherwise, you prove yourself to be one of the ignorant fans that Huston Street describes in his guest column on espn.com.
I encourage you to read the column. In one, he writes that a single day off does nothing to help a player recover from aches and pains. NOTHING. That's straight from Huston's mouth.
Here's what Huston Street writes in his espn.com column about "playing through the pain."
QUOTE:
Most people are just thinking the game is over and tomorrow is another day. Tomorrow will probably be worse.

Yeah, you must be right, Oobergoober, and Huston Street must be wrong. He has a day off tomorrow, so he'll be just fine. How did I ever doubt you, Mr. Baseball Guru?
SR....
Man, that's some great research! I think I'll use those numbers (credited to you, of course) in a post on the main page.
