All good things must come to an end
By The Anti-Blez on Friday, June 03, 2005
No, we're not talking about the AAA's four-game win streak, which came to a screeching halt on Friday night.
We're talking about Oakland's five-year stretch as one of the top teams in not only the AL West, but all of baseball. They reached the playoffs every season from 2000 to 2003. (They failed to make the playoffs last year, but only by a game.) During that period, they posted a record of 483-326--an incredible 157 games over .500.
This season, they're on pace to finish 36 games under .500.
The T-shirt salesman who runs the Asslickers Nation website won't admit this (since it would hurt his sales), but longtime, real Oakland fans know the truth:
The AAA's are truly pathetic this year.
Beaned again!

Glad to have you join us, Tyler!
McGuire? Weis?
If you were old enough to remember, you'd know how to spell the last names of Mark McGwire and Walt Weiss properly. (Time for you to hit the "edit" button.)
Beane-washed!
eastcoasta...
You (along with nearly--not all, but nearly--everyone else who frequents Asslickers Nation) regrettably seem to have missed the point:
I don't offer "analysis" or "contructive suggestions on how the team's fortunes might be reversed" because, unlike Blez, The Anti-Blez does not masquerade as a baseball insider who is qualified to make such analysis and constructive suggestions.
I am a baseball fan, not a GM or a field manager or a "student of the game." Heck, unlike Blez, I'm not even a former high school preps sportswriter for the Orange County Register. (Now, THERE'S something to be proud about!) If I was any of the above, maybe I could offer the shallow analysis and hollow constructive suggestions that you so desparately seek.
Sorry. Seek elswhere.
